Choosing introducing broker software: a practical evaluation checklist

Compare broker portals, affiliate reporting tools and an independent IB workspace by data access, commission evidence, privacy and month-end operations.

Start with who owns the workspace and which job it must do. A broker’s partner portal, affiliate reporting aggregator and independent IB workspace can solve different parts of the same operation.

First identify the buyer and the job

“IB software” can mean a platform bought by a brokerage to operate its partner program, or a tool used by an introducing broker to review several existing relationships. The first may calculate commissions and operate a partner portal inside a broker’s system. The second needs permissioned evidence from each relationship and a consistent review process. These are different purchasing decisions.

For example, TradeCore positions its Partners platform for FX/CFD brokerages, including partner hierarchies and commission operations. StatsDrone positions its product around affiliate program reporting. These are vendor descriptions, not hands-on validation or claims that either supports your particular broker. Confirm the exact program, region, account scope and export rights before comparing features.

Ask for evidence instead of a feature checkmark

Evaluate a candidate with two months of anonymized records from the brokers you actually use. Ask the supplier to show missing data, a corrected row, a partial receipt and an unknown commission expectation. A system that displays these limitations clearly can be more useful than a dashboard with an unexplained total.

Questions for an IB reporting software trial
AreaAsk to seeWhy it matters
Existing relationshipsUse your current partner account and agreementChanging referral links may change the commercial arrangement
Data accessPermission scope and last successful source updateAn API label does not prove complete or read-only access
Expected commissionDated terms, eligibility inputs and calculation traceReported revenue is not independent entitlement evidence
Repeat importSame data retried, then a corrected recordA retry must not silently duplicate income
Partner sharesChosen base, dated rate and correction historyA percentage alone does not define what is owed
Export and exitReadable records and review evidence outside the appA dashboard screenshot is a poor handover
PrivacyWho can access amounts and how deletion worksCommercial terms should not become broker sales leads

A balance display is not necessarily a wallet

Ask whether the product only records payments, initiates transfers or actually holds funds. A ledger showing $500 outstanding is a reporting record; it does not demonstrate that $500 is held for you or can be withdrawn. Do not treat a “paid” label as payment-provider confirmation unless a matching receipt exists.

IBDock currently provides operational previews and records payment events; it does not hold funds or execute transfers. Broker receipt matching and partner settlements are separate journals. A local statement review pack is not an audited consolidated account or a payment instruction.

Run a repeatable trial before connecting live data

Use the same dataset across shortlisted tools. Record the manual minutes needed to produce an explainable review, which revenue is covered by an automatic source, what remains missing and whether a second broker or user requires custom work. A demonstration can validate a workflow without proving production reliability.

For IBDock today, you can test anonymized file mapping, source comparisons, agreement assumptions, partner settlement examples and local review exports. Private customer account activation and an authorized live broker connection remain pending. There is no measured connector coverage or paying-customer outcome to infer from the demo.

  • Import an anonymized month and check totals
  • Retry it and inspect duplicate handling
  • Explain at least one unknown or unmatched amount
  • Switch to the second month without mixing periods
  • Download evidence and identify what is excluded
  • Review real access, retention and recovery before live activation
